Firearm Training

The Exeter Sportsman’s Club hosts several NRA firearms courses a year.

Volunteer firearm instructors from the Exeter Sportsman's Club offer a few trainings a year based on demand.

We offer the following courses for firearm training. Dates are determined based on interest. Contact us if you are interested and we’ll get back to you with more information!

 

Basic Pistol

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. This Instructor-led course takes place in a traditional classroom and range environment. It will be completed in a single weekend. All firearms and ammunition will be provided.

Course cost is $125.00.

Non-members welcome.

 

Personal Protection Inside the Home

Personal Protection Inside the Home Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense. 

Course cost is $150.00.

Prerequisite: This course is for law-abiding adult citizens, as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law, and experienced shooters (shooters able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling and shooting.

Non-members welcome.

 

Basic Muzzle Loading Course

This two-day, NRA certified course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of black powder, muzzleloading firearms.  Students will have the opportunity to handle, load, fire and learn to effectively clean and care for: percussion cap and flintlock rifles, as well as percussion cap pistols and cap-and-ball revolvers. 

Course cost is $150.00.

No prerequisite courses required.  This is an intro level experience. 

The club provides all the firearms, ammunition and expendables.  Students are encouraged to bring personal eye and ear protection, though the club does provide loaners if students do not have their own.  Students should show up prepared to get a little dirty!  Shooting black powder is super fun- but can be messy.
