Howdy folks! As November looms, just a quick note to cover a couple seasonal items:
First and foremost: The inaugural class of Exeter Sportsman’s Club’s new Muzzle Loading class on November 8th and 9th has filled! Interest is high and the ESC is the only local venue for this NRA certified class. If you missed securing a slot in this class, keep your eyes peeled for the next session (date TBD). We will send out notices via the normal channels when the next class opens up.

In other news: We will be rotating the new archery targets the club purchased this summer into storage for the winter on Sunday, 11/2. Have no fear! We will be putting the old targets back up in their place, and archery will continue over the winter. We do this to extend the life of the new targets, as the freeze/thaw cycle makes them brittle and they break down quickly if we shoot them when frozen. Kenny (the deer) and Tom (the turkey) will remain on duty for your 3D target shooting needs, as will the speed-bag (on the far right lane) for compound archery.

As a reminder: For life and saftey reasons, crossbows are not allowed on the ESC range. Please also: no broadheads, as they chew up the targets. New signage has been posted to this effect on the range.

New Lost and Found for arrows! Find an arrow? Missing an arrow? A new post-mounted “lost and found” has been set up on the middle column of the back-side of the Archery Pavilion. Previously arrows had been left either on the picnic table nearby or in the ground-quivers by the shooting line. In both of these cases, arrows were susceptible to the weather and a lot of moisture. Rusty field tips and degraded fletchings were an issue. The new set-up will hopefully wick a lot of the moisture away and keep the arrows in good nick while waiting to be reunited with their owners. As always- it’s good practice to write your phone number or email address in sharpie on your arrows!
